Major/Essential Functions
The Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering at Texas Tech University is seeking to hire instructors beginning Fall 2022. Individuals with experience in traffic operations, geotechnical engineering and pavement engineering are of particular interest. Individuals who can contribute to the incorporation of computational thinking, bio-inspired design and socio-technical systems concepts into the undergraduate curriculum are strongly encouraged to apply. The department is incorporating computational thinking, bio-inspired design and socio-technical systems concepts from the newly updated first-year engineering curriculum into the sophomore, junior and senior year courses.
Instructor appointments will not exceed a 75% FTE appointment level. Salary will be competitive. Instructor appointments will be for the 9-month academic year comprised of two long semesters (Fall and Spring). Instructors can choose to teach extra courses in the summer depending on identified teaching needs. Supplemental compensation for summer courses will be provided on a per-course basis as determined by the Dean of Engineering. Initial instructor appointments will be on fixed-term two-year appointments, with renewal for the second year dependent on annual evaluation by the department chair.
Required Qualifications
Candidates are required to have a PhD degree in civil engineering or a closely-related field. Ability to teach effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
